An interactive research ward by the “Science of Intelligence” Cluster of Excellence (TU)
The Robofish system consists of one or more robotic fishes which living fish identify as conspecifics. Controlling the robots by computer makes it possible to examine social interaction, which plays an important role in the "Science of Intelligence" cluster’s research on swarm or collective intelligence. Driving under a fish tank, the robot uses a magnet to move a fake fish above. For reasons of animal welfare, the interactive research ward runs only at selected times with real fish. In the remaining time the living fish are projected as shadows on the aquarium’s floor.

The visitors can control the movement of the fish themselves.
